Salary
Salaries for postgraduate physicians are determined by the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, based on County ordinance and agreements with the Joint Council of Interns and Residents (JCIR).
- PGY-4: $84,123.48
- PGY-5: $90,019.06
- PGY-6: $96,118.29
- PGY-7: $101,851.64
Medical & Dental Benefits
Fellows receive comprehensive medical and dental coverage through the Lundquist Institute. Dependents are also eligible for coverage. Opt-out options are available, though no reimbursement is provided for declined benefits.
Housing Stipend
Fellows are provided a housing stipend of $10,000 annually, disbursed in August for the academic year.
Educational Stipend
Fellows receive reimbursement for conference fees, airfare, lodging, and per diem for up to two relevant continuing medical education (CME) activities per year.
Relocation
No additional relocation benefits are provided. Fellows are responsible for moving expenses and professional licensure costs (e.g., California medical license, board certification, CPR certification, CME coursework).
Licensure Fees
Fellows may apply for DEA license fee exemption for services provided at LA County DHS facilities. AAHIVM HIV Specialist exam fees and study materials are reimbursed.
Leave Time
Fellows are granted 25 paid leave days per year, which can be used for vacation, sick leave, or personal time. Leave requests should be submitted at least 90 days in advance using the Time-Off Request Form. Emergency leave will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Educational Loan Repayment
The Fellowship Loan Repayment Program (FLRP) offers up to $150,000 ($50,000 per year for 3 years) for eligible fellows who complete the two-year program. Fellows must dedicate at least 50% of their time to HIV clinical care or research in underserved communities. Loan repayments are taxable and administered by The Lundquist Institute.
